Headless Productions 2010 Reel

This Esquivel-chimed promotional reel comes Headless Productions, based in Barcelona, Spain, and is your pleasantry for the day.

It appears to be a 3-man team (Adrian Garcia, Alfredo Torres and Victor Maldonado), but their site lists six short films they've worked on. As you can see, every one of them has a very similar feel, but with a completely individual technique (I can't even imagine what software they're using). I love how all of the work have 3D elements that compliment the 2D style, making the complex motions very seamless and clean. In fact their blog remarks on their new collaboration with SIXBIRDS to produce No Pets Allowed as their first 3D project, which goes to show that they try new things carefully and deliberately, hence the great work they've done so far.

Pixar's always played with highly-stylized 2D work in their films, particularly in opening and closing credits, but was always a little disappointed they haven't tried to go for it feature-length. Pixar's been lately tapping into different mediums, but I wonder if they'd look to spread their producing arms to other agencies to creatively play with other projects and formats.

Only time will tell. In the meantime, Headless seems to be in no desperation for work.
